You are trying to think of what they will do next and how you can go one step further. In the economy, you know your competition is out there and this challenges you to strive to be on top. I also like how in the book, the characters, Rock, Paper and Scissors, were always seeking out worthy opponents. Understanding that there are multiple positive outcomes, but that these depend on not only our decisions, but the also the decisions of others, drives our economy, our business, and the way we teach people how to succeed. Relating this back to teaching young children, the game of rock, paper, scissors, can show us that what is the correct decision of teaching one child might not be the correct decision on how to teach another child. The same decision that was correct at one point would have been incorrect at another point. If you had to make that same decision in 2008 it would have been the wrong decision based on the decisions of others that had caused a housing market crash. In the early 2000’s a great place to invest was real estate. Examples of: Where do I invest my money? What decision should I make to increase profits? How do I get children to understand a new concept? Each of these decisions have multiple options and depending on other peoples’ decisions, some of our decisions may result in a positive outcome and some may result in a negative outcome.

We are faced with many questions in life that have multiple answers. The same idea is played out in many different aspects of life, including business and economic decisions. The best decision the first time, might not be the best decision the second time. You not only have to come up with the best decision to win, you also have to try to figure out what your opponent is going to do. Rock, Paper, Scissors is a game about guesswork and decision making.

How does this simple game exemplify this concept or does it? That is why, to this day, children around the world honor these worthy adversaries by playing ROCK, PAPER, SCISSORS!Įconomics revolves around the power of decision making. Time and again they beat the most fearsome opponents they could find: an apricot, a computer printer–even frozen, breaded, dinosaur-shaped chicken nuggets! But when the warriors finally meet each other, the most epic round of battles begins…and never ends. These three were the strongest, smartest, and fastest in all the land. At the same time, in the Kitchen Realm, in the tiny village of Junk Drawer, lived a third warrior. Meanwhile in the Empire of Mom’s Home Office, a second great warrior sought the glory of battle. Now read the legend of how it all began…Long ago, in an ancient and distant realm called the Kingdom of Backyard, there lived a warrior named ROCK.
